markettiers4dc launches holiday08.tv
With two thirds of holiday–makers still to book their summer holiday web travel platform returns to assist travel industry
UK holiday-makers are leaving it later and later to organise their summer holidays. In a recent survey carried out by web travel portal www.holiday08.tv it emerged that 52% of respondents have not starting looking for their 2008 summer holiday, while a further 15% have looked but are yet to book.
Getting away from it all is still a key motivator however with well over 50% of those polled agreeing that the anticipation of a holiday makes them more productive at work.
With 50% of Brits booking outbound trips through the internet (1) it seems that consumers are becoming more exacting in their holiday choices aswell. Activity and spa holidays in particular look set to be big sellers in 2008. Holidaymakers are also moving away from traditional travel agents by booking their holidays direct with destinations via the internet and with inventory owners. By 2009 this is set to increase by 78% and will account for £21billion of UK consumer spend on holidays. (2)
Following the success of last year’s ’07 series, award winning broadcast specialist markettiers4dc has launched Holiday ’08 and www.holiday08.tv to enable destinations and associated brands to provide and shape relevant content for consumers and drive their target audiences to watch/listen to it. Whether it be via broadcast interviews; audio documentary features; video packages; competitions; blogs or podcasts the campaigns will be implemented and managed to generate the required coverage with highly targeted third party broadcast media owners.
Ceriann Mullins, Account Director at markettiers4dc commented:
“Regardless of whether they book through a high-street travel agent or via the internet, most consumers are now researching their travel plans online. Relevant, informative and engaging content needs to be made available by travel and associated companies therefore in formats to suit their audience.
The platforms that Holiday ’08 operates in offer huge potential in helping travel brands and organisations maximise their profile and create brand stand-out. We’ll be sharing our expertise with the industry to produce content that is appealing, highly targeted and above all, integrated with all other marketing activities.”
www.holiday08.tv will be hosted by noted travel journalists Russell Amerasekera and Jackie Kabler, with expert opinion from former ABTA chief Keith Betton. Content is set to be streamed by a range of content partners including Tiscali, AOL, Travel Mag, The Times and Travel Connect.
