Markettiers4dc run Laphroaig web tv show across 63 countries
We are delighted to have produced the hugely successful Laphroaig webTV show spanning from Turkey to Taiwan, New Zealand to the USA and the Faroe Islands to South Africa. The live Laphroaig webTV show aired on Wednesday 21st November 2007 was viewed by at least 7,362 users, from more than 63 countries. Before the show aired more than 1,000 questions were submitted with a following 1,000 questions being submitted during the broadcast.
The show took the form of an outside broadcast, from Vinnopolis in London, Question Time-style programme and was created to promote the launch of a new Laphroaig expression – a 27 year-old whisky – and to further engage with its growing online community of 280,000 “Friends of Laphroaig”. It featured a tasting of five Laphroaig expressions involving a panel of three experts, together with a live audience of 20 Friends of Laphroaig award winners. Murray Norton hosted the web chat and the experts included Robert Hicks, Laphroaig’s Master Blender, John Campbell, Distillery Manager, and whisky writer Jim Murray.
Russell Goldsmith, Digital Director at markettiers4dc commented: “The show was technically demanding: produced off-site with no hard wire connection at the venue, we employed the latest satellite technology to film, encode and stream the show live. With a potential audience of 280,000 or more, we took precautionary measures to ensure there was bandwidth capacity to serve as many viewers as possible. It is fantastic to see such strong viewing figures and to know our show was broadcast across so many countries. It demonstrates how effective this type of brand engagement can be when done properly”.
As well as promoting the programme to the Friends of Laphroaig community, markettiers4dc placed it in 10 third party websites including MSN, Tiscali, Supanet and Big City Network.
The web chat was produced in conjunction of VPH and Laphroaig.
A big toast goes out to all involved!Click here to view the webchat:
